Client service booking & cancellation Policies

Please be aware of our booking and cancellation policies for massage & lactation counseling appointments as described below.

You automatically agree to these policies by scheduling, so please make sure you have read through them.

For in office massage therapy and lactation counseling services:

If you cancel your appointment within less than 24 hours of the scheduled time, or do not show up to your appointment, or request to reschedule within that time frame, you will be charged the full appointment fee.

Outside of the 24 hour window, appointments can be rescheduled by the client within the booking system without penalty. However, appointments can only be rescheduled twice before you receive a warning message that the third selected time will be the final rescheduling opportunity.

If you book an appointment and then cancel it at any time, you will be charged a $6 credit card processing fee (unless you choose to reschedule or keep the full fee in store credit for future booking.)

Please note that arriving late to your session may result in a shorter appointment to not penalize clients booking after you. Clients over 20 minutes late may not be seen and will be charged a cancellation fee.

If you have to cancel your massage due to going into labor, as long as you communicate with us via text or email to let us know you won’t be coming, we of course make an exception and refund your fee to store credit for use in scheduling a postpartum massage.

If you are curious about insurance and massage - please read our blog post about those policies here.

For in home massage therapy and lactation counseling services:

Services must be booked 24-48 hours in advance and cannot be canceled / rescheduled within less than 48 hours of the scheduled session time. Services canceled within less than 48 hours of the booked time will incur, at minimum, a $220 cancellation fee. Massage ome visits require 8-10 feet of clear space for the massage table set up and room to work around it. We provide linens, but we ask that you gather some pillows prior to the session for support on the massage table. We can provide prenatal and postpartum massage, pre and post-surgical medical massage, and manual lymphatic drainage work, as well as Swedish massage services. Class cancellation, CE / certification + accommodation policies

Class cancellation Policy: Full refund (minus registration fees - $25 for online, $50 for in person) if registration is canceled two weeks prior to the training. If registration is canceled within less than two weeks but at least 72 hours prior to the training with a documented reason (medical documentation or other emergency), partial refund may be allowed. Partial refunds for cancellations within 72 hours of the training with a documented reason will be determined on a case by case basis but are not often granted. Cancellations within 72 hours of the training without a documented reason will not be refunded. No shows to classes will not be refunded. Registration fees for one class cannot be credited for another course.

Certificate Policy: The initial certificate you receive after completing all requirements is included in your tuition. Replacement certificates are available for $15 each.

Accommodations for ADA

Please email kiera@mamassage.org at least one week prior to your class meeting if you require any disability accommodations for the class you are taking.

Zoom classes are not recorded so you will want to set up your closed captioning in advance of the class if need be. Studio classes at MaMassage Brooklyn are held on the 2nd floor and there is one flight of stairs, no elevator. Practical classes held at CATA have access to an elevator. We look forward to working together so that you have a supported learning experience.

Certification

To receive a Certificate of Completion for the MaMassage Prenatal Massage Certification Course, participants must successfully complete all required modules and pass both the written and hands-on practical examination / assessments. All written exams must score at least 75 to pass. All practical exams are evaluated on a Pass/Fail basis.

If a participant does not meet passing criteria, they may retake the course—or the failed portion of it—one time at no additional cost. To maintain the integrity and consistency of instruction, it is recommended that the retake occur with the same instructor. Additional retakes may incur tuition fees.

Successful completion of all course requirements grants participants Certification in MaMassage® Prenatal Massage, signifying demonstrated competency according to the our established standards.

Note: This certification is issued by MaMassage® and is distinct from NCBTMB’s national Board Certification credential.

Continuing Education (CEU) Information

MaMassage is an NCBTMB-Approved Continuing Education Provider Organization. CE hours are available for all qualifying courses.

Each state and licensing board has unique CE requirements; therefore, it is the participant’s responsibility to confirm acceptance of CE hours with their regulatory agency. Upon request, the MaMassage Brooklyn may provide additional documentation or submit CE applications on a participant’s behalf, when applicable.

Participants who complete all course requirements will receive both:

  • A Certificate of Completion verifying CE hours earned

  • MaMassage® Certification recognizing proficiency in Prenatal Massage Therapy (for the 24 hour course only)
