Spring cleaning for our bodies…

A spring equinox blog post by Abbey @mamassage_brooklyn

The Vernal, or Spring, Equinox begins today! The hours of light and darkness are equal and we begin to pass into the long days of spring and summer. I like to think of this as the actual beginning of the year, when the earth is waking up, new life is beginning, and the zodiac calendar begins with the sun passing through Aries.

The Equinox is a threshold moment: we spent the winter hibernating, reflecting, conserving our energy, and nurturing our hopes for the year. Now the day and night are in balance, we have firm footing in fertile soil, our energy has been gathered, and the time has come to spring forward.

There is a reason that people feel called to do spring cleaning this time of year! The old energy is ready to move out, we are ready to leave behind everything we don’t need anymore. Declutter, physically and energetically! Sweep the stagnant energy from the corners of your actual and metaphysical home!

The Spring Equinox kicks off Aries season. Aries is ruled by Mars, the planet of action and drive. With zero patience for comfortable stagnation, Aries is intuitive, courageous, and doesn’t apologize for pushing you with tough love. The energy of Spring Equinox isn’t vague. It’s bold, specific, and sometimes uncomfortable. Try something new! Make mistakes! Action is what differentiates a wish from a planting.

I love starting each season with my tarot deck and my journal. This is my tarot spread for this equinox:

🌎️ The Earth: What have I nurtured or incubated over the winter? what nutrients do I have in my soil? what inner shifts have taken place beneath the surface? what lesson has winter taught me?

🌱 The Seed: What energy, opportunity, or inspiration is ready for growth? Where should I be focusing? What has been or needs to be planted?

🌷 The Stem: How is the rest of my life supporting or not supporting the new growth? Where do I need to weed? Where is the trellis that will help me grow?

🌸The Bloom: What is the fruit or the flower? What will I learn? What should I be ready for?

Ready to nurture? Massage and MLD are spring cleaning for our bodies, clearing and moving. Nourish yourself and book now!
