Gender-Affirming & Queer-Inclusive Massage Therapy in Brooklyn
MaMassage was built from the ground up to be a genuinely affirming space — not as a policy, but as a practice. We serve transgender, non-binary, gender non-conforming, and queer clients as a core part of who we are and who we show up for. If you have had experiences in healthcare or wellness settings where you felt unseen, misgendered, or like an exception to someone else's rules, this practice is specifically designed for you.
Kiera Nagle, MA, LMT, CMLDT, CLC, has over 18 years of clinical experience in perinatal and gender-inclusive bodywork. Every person who comes through the door is treated as an individual — not a category, not a liability, and not an asterisk.
What Gender-Affirming Care Looks Like Here
Intake and communication
Our intake forms collect your chosen name and pronouns, and that information is used from your first point of contact through every session. You will never be asked to justify or explain your identity. If anything on a standard intake form feels uncomfortable or inapplicable, we are happy to talk through it before your appointment.
Consent and control throughout your session
Sessions are never on autopilot. Before and during your massage, Kiera checks in about positioning, pressure, draping, and which areas you want worked on — and which you do not. You are in control of your session at all times, and you can redirect, pause, or stop without explanation at any point.
Draping and body autonomy
You decide how you are draped. There is no assumption about what you are comfortable with. Clients are always covered except for the area being actively worked on, and any variation from that standard is at your direction, not ours.
Chest and breast care
MaMassage offers specialized breast and chest massage for clients who need it — whether related to postpartum lactation support, post-surgical recovery, lymphatic drainage, or simply tension in that area. For transgender and non-binary clients navigating chest dysphoria, pre- or post-surgical care, or simply wanting to feel safe in their body during bodywork, this service is available with full attention to your comfort and boundaries.
Trauma-informed approach
Many of our clients come to us with histories that include medical trauma, discrimination, or experiences of having their bodies treated as problems to be managed. Kiera's clinical training and 18 years of practice inform a deeply relational, unhurried approach to every session. Nothing happens without your understanding and agreement, and all the other massage therapists have been trained by Kiera to follow trauma informed communication approaches and use gender neutral terminology.
Services Available to All Clients
MaMassage is inclusive of all clients who identify as women, transgender, non-binary, and gender non-conforming. We do not treat cisgender heterosexual male clients — if you need a referral to another practice, please email kiera@mamassage.org and we are glad to help.
Prenatal Massage
For pregnant clients, however they identify. All trimesters welcome, including the first. Sessions are conducted side-lying with full bolster support and tailored to your specific pregnancy experience, body, and history.
Postpartum Massage
For the fourth trimester and beyond, including recovery from vaginal birth, C-section, or any birth experience. Supports physical recovery, hormonal transition, and emotional wellbeing.
Manual Lymphatic Drainage (MLD)
Certified Vodder-technique MLD for swelling, post-surgical recovery, lymphedema, and lymphatic health. Particularly useful for clients managing post-surgical edema, including gender-affirming surgery recovery.
Reiki
Gentle energy work available as a standalone or integrated session. Many clients find it especially supportive during major life transitions.
Pediatric Massage & Caregiver Training
Private sessions teaching parents and caregivers how to safely massage their infants and toddlers at home.
Why Brooklyn Clients Choose MaMassage
Prospect Heights is one of the most diverse and queer-dense neighborhoods in Brooklyn, and MaMassage has been part of this community for over 18 years. Kiera's clinical background — including a decade as a clinical supervisor at Northwell Katz Women's Hospital and 12 years on faculty at Pacific College — means every session is grounded in real expertise, not just good intentions.
If you have questions about our approach before booking your first session, please reach out. We are genuinely happy to talk through anything — no question is too small.
